STERLINGTON, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Ouachita sheriff's deputies are putting their skills to the test when it comes to catching a dangerous person. The mobile command center, along with the swat team, and other deputies completed a disaster drill Wednesday afternoon. It all happened in Sterlington near Angus Chemical. Some of the scenarios consisted of a man on the run and a bomb threat near the chemical plant.
"In this day in age, there's all kind of terrorism attacks going on around the world," Major Mike Moore said. "And it's better to be prepared. I'll give ourselves an A, but however we always want to get better, we need that plus."
Dive teams were on hand to assist in the mock operation. This drill is funded by some federal and state grant money to help deputies stay on top of the latest tactics.
