FARMERVILLE, La., (KNOE 8 News) - Authorities in Union Parish are still trying to catch up with suspects who are being accused of stealing some 100 gallons of used cooking oil in Farmerville.
Just after midnight on the 12th of this month, the suspects drove the pictured truck up to the storage van at Southern classic Chicken and drove away with the 100 gallons of the cooking oil.
Union
Parish sheriff's investigators were told by Southern Classic Chicken officials
that the restaurant's used cooking oil vat has been emptied three times over the
last two months.
Sheriff Bob Buckley said the restaurant is paid $400 a load for its used
oil and that Southern Classic Chicken reports it has lost oil at another of its
restaurants in Ruston. The Farmerville restaurant reported the latest theft
Sept. 12.
Buckley said the used oil can be burned in diesel trucks.
Detectives are looking a dually truck that is rigged up with a pump and
plastic containers. The suspect(s) simply drop a suction hose into the vat and
then pump it into the containers. Black and white videos show it to possibly be
a Dodge Ram.
Southern Classic is offering a $500 reward for any information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for the theft.
Also, Union Parish Crimestoppers is offering its standard $1000 reward for any information leading to a felony arrest and/or grand jury indictment. Information on the truck itself is also being requested.
Anyone having information is asked to call Crime Stoppers of Union Parish at 318-368-9679 or1-800-828-3979.
You do not have to give your name or appear in court.
