MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - It's a race for the cure. The Northeast Louisiana Susan G. Komen Foundation has kicked off the events leading up to the big race at the end of the month, on September 29, 2012. Dozens were sporting their pink shirts and ribbons at Revolution Park Saturday night. Event planners say the money raised to fight against breast cancer saves lives.
"75 percent of the proceeds we raise stay in this area to fund non-profit organizations for beat health, education screening and treatment," Affiliate Coordinator Becky Tripp said.
"I'm a survivor and on behalf of the volunteers and the survivors, we work hard to find a cure. Please participate and join us at our race," Breast Cancer Survivor Cyndi Foust said.
