MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Local republicans are gearing up for the fall election by opening up a headquarters. Friday morning a ribbon cutting ceremony was held at the new GOP gathering place on 1500 Louisville Avenue in Monroe . It will be a one stop shop for people to register to vote and get campaign material. Local Republican leaders say it's not only for GOP members, anybody can stop by.

Over to the other side of the political spectrum, a democratic headquarters is already open ahead of the November election. State representative Marcus Hunter and local Democrat Chair Rodney McFarland have opened up the first Ouachita Parish Democratic Headquarters. It is located at the Clarion Hotel on U.S. 165 in the Rampart and St. Charles room. You can go there to get registered or collect campaign materials.
