RUSTON, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Louisiana Tech President Dan Reneau gets ready to retire after serving foR 26 years.
Reneau says, "come next June 30th I would have been at Louisiana Tech as a student or a faculty member for over 50 years, 26 years as president, 33 years as president or vice president and a total of 47 years of professional experience."
President Reneau says he has seen many changes and achieved many of his goals and after speaking with his family, it seemed like the right time to go.
Reneau is Louisiana Tech's longest tenured president.
He says one of his biggest achievements came in 1972, when he established Tech's department of biomedical engineering, it was one of the first programs of it's kind nation wide.
Reneau says it's been a wonderful experience, "I've had a unique experience and a privileged experience few presidents get to come back to their alma mater and go up the chain all the way to be president it's been a wonderful experience."
President Reneau says he plans on continuing supporting Louisiana Tech University.
