LINCOLN PARISH (KNOE 8 News) - Lincoln Parish officials said Wednesday they are ready for whatever Isaac may bring their way - from evacuees from the south to high flood waters at home.
Lincoln Parish Sheriff Mike Stone, says, "your sheriff's office will be ready, and like I said people in this parish usually know what to do in these type of situations."
Director of homeland security in Lincoln Parish says the first responders have met twice about communication and what to do if something does happen within the parish.
Kip Franklin from Homeland Security in Linconl Parish, says, "They are sending a lot of their crews to be staged and stay in south Louisiana which means they aren't going to have but limited resources, here in north Louisiana to assist us if we have a lot of power outages, and stuff like that so I ask all parish residents need to be patient"
If there are power lines or trees down, Lincoln Parish Fire Chief Dennis Ford says be very careful.
"If there are powerlines in the trees that have been tangled most of the time they can't see it, and they start cutting their trees and moving debris and there is a powerline in it, which is a safety hazard, these powerline will kill and they have killed.", Chief Ford reminds us.
Lincoln Parish also has a Red Cross Center located at Trinity Methodist Church.
"We set up initially 112 cots and we are prepared for whatever may come in presently we only have 35", shelter manager Allen Tuten.
All fire and police agencies want to remind everyone to be careful of downed powerlines and flooding on roadways.
