Child Seat Safety Check

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Dozens of families drove through the Child Safety Seat Check at Van Trow Toyota.

"We are giving away booster seats and also passing along information so people understand how their children are supposed to ride in the booster seats," said Albert Paxton of Louisiana State Police Troop F, "and if people came and wanted us to check their car seat, we are able to do that as well."

State police with the help of LSU Health-Shreveport are providing these services free of charge. In some cases children wouldn't be riding in the car seat without the help of events like these.

"Well, I would have to pay for it," says Dysheka Banks, "and I don't have the money right now to pay for it. So it was right on time."

The check up had such a great turn-out that even as the event drew to a close, cars were still lining up outside.

"I feel like we passed on a lot of good information. We had to turn people away because we are having to shut the doors... but we are available 24/7 at Troop F which is out on Highway 594," says Paxton.
