MONROE, La., (KNOE 8 News) - Retail gas prices in Louisiana rose 2.3¢ per gallon over the past week and are now averaging $3.53 a gallon.
The national average, meanwhile has crept up to $3.70 a gallon.
The latest figures put us at 11.4¢ a gallon higher than a year ago and 29.6¢ a gallon higher than a month ago. In the same periods, the national average is up 21.9¢ a gallon since last month and 11.8¢ a gallon higher than a year ago.
The good news is that the refinery issues we've been seeing over the past few weeks seem to have settled down and as we move toward the Labor Day holiday, we may well see slightly lower prices in the not-too-distant future--or at the least--a leveling off of the price escalation of the past month.
