OAK GROVE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Renovations at the historic Fiske Theatre are underway and should be complete within a month.
"In 1950, Mr. Donald B. Fiske built the present building...and at the time it was the premier, most modern, and well-equipped theater in the southern region of the United States," says Adam Holland, President of Holland Entertainment. The Fiske Theatre is now owned by the West Carroll Chamber of Commerce and operated by Holland Entertainment.
Last year, the theatre made major upgrades from film to digital and now the building is being revamped to match.
The 50's style seats have been torn out to make way for plush new ones, and the entire building is getting a new paint job. Chamber fundraisers and donations are funding the makeover which they call "Operation 2012."
John Elliott of the Chamber of Commerce says, "Everybody has a story of coming to the Fiske as a child....so it's been great and people want to be a part of the renovation of it."
The balcony improvements are complete and the Fiske Theatre is still open during the main floor renovations.
The Fiske Theatre invites everyone out on September 21, 2012, to join them for a movie and see the latest upgrades.
