Powerball fever sweeps the ArkLaMiss

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Many are dishing out $2 to get their hands on a Powerball ticket Wednesday night.

"Open up a savings fun for me and my brothers and sisters and children," one store clerk said.

For a chance at winning $320 million dollars.

"We had a man just come in today and bought 20 tickets for himself back to back. We had another young lady who do the same thing," a Monroe cashier said.

The fourth highest Powerball jackpot kept gas station cashiers in Monroe moving all day long.

"Yes...it's been very busy," the cashier said.

Some say this doesn't compare to the string of purchases from the Mega Millions mania back in March, with a record Jackpot of $640 million.

"No sir, Mega Millions was worst. It was more people. We had a line out the door," she said.

There hasn't been anyone lucky enough to win all the numbers including the red Powerball in the Bayou State, since last year June.

But earlier this Month a Saint Landry Parish man pocketed a million bucks after winning just five numbers two weeks ago. If you hit the jackpot, you'll have two choices when it comes to getting your cash. You can either take a one-time lump some of $213 million or you can spread your money out over the next 30 years.

"Everybody's ready for their millions," a ticket holder said.

Lottery officials say all ticket holders should sign the back of their paper slip to avoid any potential problems.

Wednesday's winning numbers are 06-27-46-51-56, and finally with a Powerball of 21.
