MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Some young kids dream of becoming professional athletes, but many of them never get a chance to play on a field that has lines.
Two local organizations and one father's vision some kids will get that chance.
Robert Graves is a father who is on a mission to help young boys stay off the streets and involved in something positive, football.
Graves has kept up with a football field at Clara Hall Elementary School, coached the boys, and watched over them by himself.
Now local organizations are getting involved, the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office and the YMCA are helping take care of the field and are having paint donated to spray the lines.
Graves says this isn't just for his kids but for others, "I had a good dad in my life, and some kids don't have good dads like I had, so I try to be a replacement and help the community."
Any parent with a child 4 to 12 can contact the YMCA to get them involved with the sports program, you can reach the YMCA at 318-387-9622.
