Road construction project begins in Morehouse

MOREHOUSE PARISH, La., (KNOE 8 News) - DOTD has begun an extensive road construction project in Morehouse Parish.

Highway road construction on LA 830-6 (McCreight Street) began this week and is slated to continue for approximately forty-five (45) days (weather permitting).  Road construction will be required on all of LA 830-6 (McCreight Street) between its intersection with US 165 and its intersection with US 425.  The traveling public should anticipate short delays as temporary lane closures will be needed during construction.

At least one lane of the roadway will remain open to traffic at all times, and a pilot car will be used to escort traffic through the work area.

The major items of work consist of milling the existing surface, new asphaltic surfacing and related work.

In addition to the temporary lane closures, a 476-foot section of LA 830-6 (McCreight Street), from its intersection with US 165 to its intersection with Colliers Lane, will be closed to all traffic starting Thursday, August 16 to Thursday, September 6 while crews work on constructing a new base and asphaltic surfacing.  The rest of LA 830-6 (McCreight Street) will remain open to traffic during this timeframe, but short delays should be anticipated due to the temporary lane closures.

Vehicles will be restricted to 12-feet wide or smaller to pass through the construction zone.  All other vehicles wider than 12 feet must use an alternate route.  A detour route will be signed and provided using US 425, US 165, LA 830-3 (Cherry Ridge Road) and LA 830-4 (Cooper Lake Road) to guide traffic around the closure.  The detour route will be open to all traffic.
