MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - The Republican "Veepstakes" is over.

The presumptive Republican nominee, Mitt Romney, has chosen Wisconsin U.S. Representative Paul Ryan to be his running mate.

Ryan has served the state's first congressional district since 1999. The 42-year-old politician is ranked as one of the most influential voices in his party.

He serves as the chair of the House Budget Committee.

Ryan is also married and has three children.

Now, the presumptive vice presidential candidate can be seen on the national stage as he makes an attempt to help Romney move into the white house.

The republican team is running against President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden. The election is in November. There are scheduled to be three presidential debates.
