Worst storm damage in ArkLaMiss

Posted: Updated:

WINNSBORO, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Severe thunderstorms Thursday night left devastating scenes through the Ark-La-Miss.

Franklin Parish was hit the hardest during the storms and faced massive power outages. High speed winds tore a hole in the roof of the School Board office and one trailer was even flipped over. Winnsboro residents have trees down in their yards and some even in their homes.

The mass power outages and property damages have given Franklin Parish Homeland Security a big task.

"We are still in the rescue mode," says Mitch Reynolds, Homeland Security Director, "We want to find every person that lives alone that might need us, first."

Some storm victims have had their homes destroyed overnight, like Vernon and Lona Morgan. The Winnsboro couple woke up just minutes before a tree fell on to their home and straight through their bed. The family said it's truly a miracle that no one was hurt.
