DELHI, La. (KNOE 8 News) - A policy kicking pregnant students out of class at Delhi Charter School has been tossed out.

Charter Board President Albert Christman told the Associated Press he never knew the policy was illegal.

The change stems from the American Civil Liberties Union threatening to file a lawsuit Monday, stating the rules were not in compliance with the U.S. Constitution.

The school's pregnancy policy forced teen girls to take a pregnancy test if a teacher or administrator suspected the student was going to have a baby.

That teen was given an option to be home schooled or continue their education at another institution.

It seemed many locals in Delhi were pleased the school decided to do-away with the policy.

Those set of rules date back to just several years ago in the mid 2000's.
