Gas prices jump

Posted: Updated:

MONROE, La., (KNOE 8 News) - Last week, we saw gas prices jump just over a dime a gallon here in Louisiana, but events early this week have pushed them up even more.

Two refinery fires, one in the Midwest and another in California have had an instant impact on those prices, particularly in those two areas.

California is generally back above $4 a gallon now and the Midwest seems to be headed there, with prices being reported well above $3.75 a gallon in Oklahoma, Indiana and Ohio as well as a couple of other states in the Midwest.

At the beginning of the week, we were just below $3.50 a gallon on average, but we'll probably see higher prices, too, when the week's end reports come out this weekend.
