Unemployment in Ark-La-Miss

Posted: Updated:

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - First time unemployment claims are down in Louisiana, but not by much. The week ending July 21st saw about 3,080 people filing for financial help for the first time. That's down from the previous week, which had more than 3,600 people asking for unemployment money. The state's out of work rate continues to climb up the ladder.  In June, that number rose to 7.5%. The Arkansas rate fell slightly to 7.2%. And in Mississippi, the rate is up to 8.8%. Nationally, we're at 8.2%.
