MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Neville High School has been battling to become a charter school for just about a year, and their dreams are close to becoming a reality.

Neville Alumni President Elect, Gary Roberts says, there are a few more details to be worked out, but they are getting very close.

They are still working out some things with the Monroe City School Board, including transportation, food services, maintenance, and other details.

Roberts says they just want to do what is best for the students.

"we have a great faculty, great administrators, and really the kids probably won't notice a whole lot of changes, the only thing the charter will do is it could possibly give us the opportunity to have more opportunities for the kids, and that's really what this is about," Roberts said.

Roberts says they hope by the first day of school, August 20th to be a charter school.
