BENTON, La. (AP) - A 26-year-old Monroe man has pleaded guilty to shooting at a Haughton police officer during a high-speed chase. 26-year-old Thomas Dooly entered the plea and now faces up to 50 years in prison.

His admission includes one count each of attempted first-degree murder of a police officer and armed robbery.

Bossier Parish D-A Schuyler Marvin said Dooly was arrested in May of 2011 after he allegedly robbed McGuire's Recycling near Haughton.

Dooly is accused of taking cash from the business, then jumping into a black pickup truck and heading east on U.S. Highway 80. As police were responding to the robbery, Dooly fired shots at a Haughton police officer, then led authorities on a chase, first into Webster Parish then back into Bossier Parish.

The officer was not injured.
