Gas prices continue upward

Posted: Updated:

MONROE, La., (KNOE 8 News) - After a week which saw gas prices in Louisiana move upward about a nickel a gallon, this past week saw another upward surge, this time to the tune of 8¢ a gallon.

This latest jump to $3.25 a gallon puts us 34.3¢ lower than a year ago and 10.6¢ a gallon higher than a month ago.

Nationally, the rise in price this past week was only 4.9¢ but the average gallon is still higher nationally than here in Louisiana, at $3.49 a gallon.

Petroleum experts say they aren't particularly surprised at the current trend upwards, adding that the next downward move may come sometime after the Labor Day holiday.
