Ruston native killed in U.S. Navy helicopter crash

RUSTON, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Ruston native Joseph P. Fitzmorris has been confirmed killed in a navy helicopter crash in the Gulf nation of Oman.

According to pilotonline.com, Fitzmorris was one of five crew members on board the helicopter, when it went down on Thursday.

One other crew member was also killed.  Three others were found and taken to a hospital.

Fitzmorris had attended Louisiana Tech University and Northwestern State University in Natchitoches.  He was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia.
