WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - "The Dark Night Rises" is one of the most popular shows at Tinseltown right now. Despite the tragic shootings in Colorado most movie goers said that's not going to stop them from seeing the Batman movie.

"I'm not going to let something like that keep me from going to the movie," said John Meadows.

Families in Ouachita Parish aren't shying away from the movies.

"You can get shot walking down the street," said Landon LeJeune. "It's just kind of public hysteria."

The Meadows said their sons have been waiting to see the new Batman movie for weeks - and they aren't going to let the shootings stand in the way. But the family admits, they do feel somewhat threatened.

"I felt like bringing my own gun," said Meadows.

Ten-year-old Jalen McCuly said the news was shocking for him.

"I told my mom I don't think we should go this time," said McCuly.

Jalen's mom convinced him that the movies are safe, but she couldn't change his mind about seeing Batman.

When asked: what are you going to see now? Jalen said: Ice Age - because it's safe.

"I told him it wouldn't happen here," said Rachel McCuly. "There's always crazy stuff that happens in Colorado."

Police aren't speaking about the Colorado shootings because they said they don't want to inspire copycats. They said public safety is always a concern and they will continue to protect and serve the community.
