Oak Grove man charged with arson

BATON ROUGE, La., (KNOE 8 News) - La. Dept. of Agriculture and Forestry officers have arrested an Oak Grove man for arson in a West Carroll fire.

Commissioner Mike Strain announced that 19-year-old Stacy James George of Highway 2 West, in Oak Grove, was booked into the West Carroll Parish jail and charged with one count of simple arson. He is accused of setting a fire back in June which burned nearly 600 acres of land near the community of Kilbourne.

Bond has been set at $10,000.
 
If George is convicted he could be sentenced to as much as 10 years in prison.
 
The arrest was the result of a joint investigation by the LDAF and the West Carroll Parish Sheriff's Office.
