LAFAYETTE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - LGBT studies is the newest minor added to UL's curriculum. At this time, five students are enrolled, but the university is expecting a larger attendance by the fall. It's part of the Liberal Arts Department and it was created by demand.

Dean Kellman adds the program is another branch of expertise that will gives graduates more job opportunities.  But congressman Jeff Landry disagrees with that notion on financial grounds.

Kellman says since it's just a minor, it does not require extra funding.
