MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - First-time unemployment claims in Louisiana are up this week. The state's labor department released new numbers Friday. Initial claims rose to a little under 4,000. That's up more than 500 from the previous week. We're expecting the state's June unemployment rate to come July 20, 2012. So far, since February that number has been slowly rising. As of May, the out of work rate stands at 7.2%.
