ROCKY BRANCH, La., (KNOE 8 News) - A Union Parish resident has been booked for cruelty to the infirm after Elderly Protective Services reported to the Sheriff's Office that he had threatened to kill his father.

Jay Caraway, 39, of the Rocky Branch community, is being held in the Union Parish Detention Center on a $50,000 bond.

Sheriff Bob Buckley says that when deputies arrived they found the 73-year-old victim hiding in the woods near his residence, claiming that Jay Caraway had threatened to kill him and then himself.

The man had on no shirt and had scratches on his body when deputies found him. He told deputies that his son had been walking up and down the driveway threatening to kill him with a .38-caliber pistol. Deputies found a pistol inside the home and later picked up Jay Caraway and had him mentally evaluated.

Subsequently, Caraway was booked into the detention center.
