MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - CenturyLink, a top three telecommunications company in the nation, is expanding their headquarters in Monroe.

CenturyLink has already pledged to create 800 new jobs in Monroe and now they are adding on to their facility to accommodate the new employees.

Annmarie Sartor, a CenturyLink spokesperson, says the new facility will be meeting and office space and possibly house a research facility. The exact location of the new building has not been determined, but it will remain on the current 77-acre campus.

As an incentive for the job creation and for keeping headquarters in-state, Louisiana State Department has offered to pay a large portion of the total costs of the project.

"The state announced roughly June of last year an incentive for us to keep headquarters remained here and to add these jobs," says Sartor, "The state will pay up to $14.9 million, or fifty percent of the cost of a new facility."

CenturyLink, as well as the city of Monroe, is excited about the new jobs coming to our area and can't wait to get the project started. The company plans to break ground early 2013.
