MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - The little ones moved Fran Spero to shop around for some fireworks.
"I definitely understand the danger of using fireworks this time of year," Fireworks Shopper Fran Spero said.
That danger is a result of mother nature's lack of an average amount of rainfall in some areas. But the dry conditions aren't keeping many away from the sights and sounds of their own fireworks.
"No one has said anything about not coming because of the dry weather," Little Dixie Fireworks Owner Sandy Smith said.
She enjoys seeing the faces of children light up while their parents are buying those sparklers and smoke bombs. But her main concern especially with those burn bans in place is safety.
"Be safe, be cautious, watch what you're doing. Don't let kids just play around with them and cause a fire," Smith said.
ArkLaMiss leaders typically encourage many to attend a fireworks show to possibly avoid any type of tragedy.
Keep in mind, it's illegal to pop off a firework in the city limits of Monroe, West Monroe and Natchez. In Lincoln Parish, you have until six in the morning Thursday to finish celebrating the fourth.
In Ouachita Parish, outside city limits, you can use fireworks between eight in the morning until ten at night.
"We're kind of changing what we're doing. No bottle rockets, no roman candles, that kind of thing," Spero said.
For Spero and the kids, they're still going to have their fun at home but a little differently this holiday.
