RUSTON, La. (KNOE 8 News) - A Ruston non-profit is the winner of State Farm's cause and effect grant.

The Hope Center for Autism is the only Louisiana winner of the $25,000.00 grant. The center was chosen out of 3,000 applicants, after getting more than 16,000 votes on Facebook. The money will help start an after school center for autistic children. The winner and founder of the Hope Center for Autism, Tiffany White says the center won because of the amazing support of the Ruston community. "$25,000.00 is great, it goes a long way, it will allow us to open up our center in the fall." said White.

"Those who do for other people expecting nothing in return, that's the backbone of our country. Those are the people that are doing the most good to help the most people and literally make the least amount of money for it. So state farm wanted to honor those individuals and give them some sort of grant to assist them in their program." said Ruston State Farm Agent Skip Russell.

State farm also awarded the grant to 39 other causes across the country.
