Peach Fest serves up many dishes

RUSTON, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Many in the area turned out to a sweet activity over the weekend, the Squire Creek Louisiana Peach Festival in Ruston. The event kicked off Friday and wrapped up Saturday. It's put on by the Presbyterian Church of Ruston. Judges were overwhelmed this year with the number of peach dishes to score. Not only that, there were many other ways to have fun at the event. Since it was rather hot outside, the little ones lined up to get ice cream. The festival even brought out the first time goers. And one of them tells us he's pleased with the event.

"This is my first time and I've really been looking forward to it because ever since I heard about the Peach Festival, and a peach is my favorite fruit, I thought this would be a fun place to go to," Bryce Pfeiffer said. "Now that this is my first year here, this is a really interesting, small community and you get to see a bunch of culture and diversity."

Each year the festival bring's in anywhere from $2.5 - $4 million, as people stay in local motels, eat at area restaurants, and shop at local stores.
