Black bear caught in West Monroe

WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Homeowners in Ouachita Parish can rest peacefully, now that a bear on the run has been caught.

Crews with the Louisiana Department of  Wildlife and Fisheries picked up the bear Friday night in West Monroe. They say the black bear was caught near the West Lakes subdivision, that's west of Well Road and just south of  Interstate 20.

The department is tight-lipped about where the animal is heading next. We first received reports about the bear on the lose on Thursday, June 21.

State officials have not filed any reports of black bear attacks.
