MONROE, La., (KNOE 8 News) - Several Law enforcement groups will be getting together to hold a child safety seat checkup event tomorrow (Saturday).
The event will be held at the Target store located at 4103 Pecanland Mall Drive in Monroe, La, on Saturday, June 23, 2012, from noon until 3:00 p.m. This free event will be held rain or shine, no appointment necessary!
Approximately 3 out of 4 child seats are not used correctly. This high misuse rate can be attributed to the great variety of child seats available, the great range of children's weights and heights, and the vast array of vehicles in today's market. These misuses span all races, educational levels, and socioeconomic status.
Parents and caregivers will be provided firsthand information by nationally certified child passenger safety technicians regarding the proper installation of their child's safety seat. In addition, parents and caregivers will also be provided with life-saving information regarding the appropriate child safety seat for each child's age, weight and height.
Louisiana State Police, Monroe Police Department, West Monroe Police Department and Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office will be participating in the event
If you miss this free event on Saturday, every Louisiana State Police troop location is recognized by the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration as a child safety seat inspection station. Free child safety seat inspections are available at Louisiana State Police Troop F seven days a week by appointment. Appointments can be made by calling (318) 345-0000.
