MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 news)- The state's new education reform laws will be challenged by several education groups tomorrow.
Governor Jindal signed rules to reform the education system in April. But now The Louisiana Association of Educators is saying the changes are unconstitutional. Coming up Friday they will file an official suit against the laws. One of the group's attorney, Brian Blackwell says they aren't against education reform, if it's done legally.
"When people sit on their rights, is when people like Mr. White and the Governor trounce on them. We're not just going to sit back and let that happen." said the attorney.
"We'd be very mild and meek if we did so, I'm sure everyone in the Department of Education and the fourth floor of the Capital where the Governors office is, would be happy if we all just went away, but we're not going to." added Blackwell.
The association leaders will file the papers Friday at 11 in the morning. Our Victoria Shirley will have more on the lawsuit Friday.
