MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - People in East Carroll Parish are thrilled about dozens of jobs coming to the area.

"We have a parish where people are unemployed and certainly it's very important to have jobs," said East Carroll Parish Police Jury President Josesph Jackson. "And we're excited that they are going to be soliciting from the pool of East Carroll."

Myriant chemical plant in Lake Providence is looking to hire up to fifty new workers.

"The job fair today is our first attempt to get people to fill out job questionnaires," said general manager Tim Stafford.  "And begin our evaluation process."

Myriant chemical plant is still under construction but once up and running it will be the area's first "green" chemical plant - producing bio based crystals and fertilizers.

"This particular facility will be the world first bio-succinic acid production facility," said Stafford.  not only in America but globally.

Stafford explained what kind of workers are needed.

"Anybody who's had prior industrial experience, preferably," said Stafford. "Whether that be maintenance, millwright work , electricians,  I C & e, instruments, control and electrical room operator experience, field operator experience, anybody who's had some type of industrial experience."

Stafford said the company is also looking for lab technicians to evaluate their products.
