MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Dozens in North Monroe were concerned after they saw thick black smoke in the air Saturday. Ouachita Fire officials said residents should not have been alarmed. There was a controlled burn on Joe White Road. The fire started late Saturday afternoon. Firefighters said a local farmer is burning a wheat field.
