12 drug arrests announced in Union Parish

UNION PARISH, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Union Parish sheriff's deputies and narcotics agents have arrested 12 people on warrants charging them with distributing and possession of illegal drugs.

Sheriff Bob Buckley said the arrests are the result of cases worked over the last several months. He said seven arrests were made Tuesday and another five on Thursday.

Those arrested Thursday included:

Jacorey Bass, 19, of 1584 Thomas St., Marion, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, $10,000 bond;

Michael Wins, 56, of 208 West U St., Farmerville, distribution of crack cocaine, $10,000 bond;

Julius Lloyd, 58, of 311 W. Green #15, Farmerville, two counts of distribution of crack cocaine, $55,000 bond;

Karen Bearden, 58, 491 Joe Johnson Rd., Farmerville, distribution of crack cocaine, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, $16,750 bond.

William Cortez Knighton, 26, of 203 Hamm St., Farmerville, distribution of marijuana, $5,000 bond.

Those arrested on Tuesday were:

Garrick Lewis,21, of 118 Mack Drive, Farmerville, distribution of crack cocaine, $12,200 bond;

Tony L. Jones, 50, of 705 West St., Farmerville, distribution of crack cocaine, $11,650 bond;

Romano M. Davis, 28, of101 Goldie St. Farmerville, distribution of Zanax, $21,500 bond;

Justin Caskey, 28, of 251 Dogwood, Farmerville, possession of legend drug, $ 2,750 bond;

Keagan Lewis, 23, of 878 Selig St., Farmerville, possession with Intent to distribute marijuana, $12,500 bond;

Charles Manning, 23, of 704 McCreight St., Bastrop, failure to appear for DWI with child endangerment and distribution of marijuana, $13,500 bond;

Tayon Jones, 30, of 710 W. Boundary St., Farmerville, distribution of marijuana, illegal use of controlled dangerous substance in presence of minors and distribution of marijuana, $17,000 bond.

Buckley said more arrests are expected and that the department will continue "to make life tough for those dealing drugs in Union Parish."

During those compliance checks, 28 of the businesses, which consist of area restaurants, bars and convenience stores, were caught selling alcohol and tobacco products to minors.
