Gas prices continue downward trend

Posted: Updated:

MONROE, La., (KNOE 8 News) - The average price for a gallon of gas here in Louisiana dropped another 6.6¢ over the past week.

At the end of the day yesterday, we were seeing an average gallon going for $3.45, compared to $3.73 or so a month ago and about $3.70 a gallon this time last year.

Nationally, the price dropped just under 3¢ a gallon over the past week to $3.70.

Most experts indicate that refineries issues on the West Coast are holding gas prices much higher there as ours continue to drop.

And, according to Gasbuddy Senior Analyst Patrick DeHaan, "...it's time to put to bed an old myth that gasoline prices rise ahead of a major holiday."
