MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News)  - A man was shot and killed Thursday by police in West Monroe.

According to the police report, officers responded to a Domestic Disturbance call in the 1100 block of Tulane Ave.

Once on the scene, the report says that officers were trying to make contact with the individuals involved. One of those involved refused repeated verbal commands by the officers, and eventually, according to the report, brandished a firearm and pointed it toward the officers.

At this point, the report goes on to say, officers fired their weapons and wounded the individual, who was then transported to the Glenwood Regional Medical Center where he subsequently died from his injuries.

Chief Christopher Elg requested that the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office handle the officer involved shooting investigation.
