FRANKLIN PARISH, La., (KNOE 8 News) - Over the weekend, a teenager from Winnsboro was ejected from the pick-up truck she was driving and seriously injured in Franklin Parish.

Louisiana State Police say that the single-vehicle crash occurred on Erskin Road in Franklin Parish, about a mile north of LA highway 130. The 2004 Ford pick-up was traveling north on Erskin when it left the road on the right side and rolled when the driver apparently over-corrected.

A fifteen year-old female passengers, also from Winnsboro, was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash and was taken to Franklin Medical Center where she's reported to have minor injuries.

While impairment is not suspected, routine toxicology tests are pending. Also, the driver was cited for Careless Operation and Driving with a Restricted License.

While not all crashes are survivable, chances of survival are increased and severity of injuries can be decreased by the proper usage of a seat belt or age/weight appropriate child restraint. Teen drivers should also be reminded to abide by the established guidelines of their license and with drive a licensed adult or guardian.
