Former Winn Parish sheriff passes away

WINNFIELD, La., (KNOE 8 News) - A former sheriff of Winn Parish, James Edward "Buddy" Jordan, age 69, of Winnfield, has died.

Born September 23, 1942, he was preceded in death by his father Henry DeLoyce Jordan and his mother Ellen Maurine James Jordan.

He was retired from the Winn Parish Sheriff's Department where he served as a deputy for twelve years and as Sheriff for 16 years. Mr. Jordan also was retired from the Louisiana Army National Guard after 22 years of service.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Winnfield, La., Master Mason and member of Eastern Star Lodge No. 151 F&AM and the Dugdemona High Twelve in Winnfield.

Funeral services for Mr. Jordan will be held at 2PM Friday, February 24, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Winnfield with Dr. Calvin Phelps and Reverend John Holland officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Winnfield under the direction of Southern Funeral Home.

Visitation at the funeral home will be held Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and also on Friday in the funeral home from 8:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
