MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) – A man accused of trafficking methamphetamine from Mexico into the Monroe area is in jail after being shot by police in Texas.
Jeremy Perkins, 31, was arrested by Harris County Sheriff's deputies and US Marshalls near Houston this morning.
Officers say Perkins led them on a short chase that ended when he pulled a gun and officers shot him in the arm.
Investigators had been tracking Perkins for several weeks after he moved out of the Monroe area.
Investigators from Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office said they were "very familiar" with Perkins and called him a major trafficker of methamphetamine coming into the United States from Mexico.
He's now in jail in Texas awaiting extradition to Louisiana.
