MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - The 29th king and queen of the Krewe of Janus are in the carnival spirit. We're just one day away from twin cities Mardi Gras.

Queen Nannette White said there's something on the schedule for the whole family to enjoy.

"We've got the children's parade in the morning," said Nanette. "The pet parade in the afternoon and then our big parade at six o'clock is when it rolls out."

The parade kicks off on Natchitoches and North 18th. Street in West Monroe. After a trip through downtown, it crosses into Monroe and Louisville avenue.

"The Krewe has a saying: laisezz le bon temp roulez, which means let the good times roll," said King Todd Werner. "And we really do mean that we want all the families to come out and have a good time and for everyone to enjoy themselves."

Parade goers are encouraged to get decked out for the parade. But if you don't have a fine costume , you're encouraged to where the traditional Mardi Gras colors.

This year's parade promises to be bigger and better than ever - more than 175-thousand parade goers came out last year.

Of course there'll be floats and plenty of beads, but organizers have a few surprises up their sleeves this year.

"We'll we have a new float that we're launching out that no one has seen," said White. "We also have our grand marshal from the duck commander, so people want to come out and see him, and look forward to that battle of the bands too."

The Krewe ordered over five hundred miles of beads to throw out... And the king and queen are hoping to see you there.

"We're going to shake, rattle and roll," said White.
