MONROE, La., (KNOE 8 News) - Monroe Police will be using "Nixle" to keep the public informed on Mardi Gras parade activity on Saturday.
This year's city parade-the "Janus Parade"--is scheduled to begin this Saturday afternoon at 6pm and will travel through both West Monroe and Monroe.
By signing up for Nixle, the public can follow the progress of the parade, plus get information about any delays or events that may affect the public before and during the parade.
Citizens are encouraged to sign up now through the free Nixle service. Mobile devices can receive the most accurate information about the parade directly by sending a text message to 888777 with the message "mpdparade".
All messages through Nixle will also be repeated on the city's official Facebook and Twitter profile pages.
The Twitter notifications will also use the hashtag term "#mpdParade" so that citizens can follow the status of the parade by searching for that tagword.
