MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Ouachita Parish Sheriff Royce Toney confirms he's being sued by his former third-ranked officer.

Marc Mashaw is claiming the sheriff fired him illegally.

It comes less than two weeks after Mashaw and the Sheriff's Office parted ways in the mdidle of an internal investigation.

Toney said late Wednesday afternoon that Mashaw wasn't fired but rather quit, but he said he couldn't comment further on a pending court case.
