Jonesville water about to improve

Posted: Updated:

JONESVILLE, La., (KNOE 8 News) - Jonesville has some big plans in the works for its water-delivery system. The town is planning on replacing its entire water distribution system, most of which was put in place in the 1920's and '30s.

The project, which will completely upgrade the water system and the quality of both the town's drinking water and wastewater, is expected to cost more than $3 million.

The current plan has Jonesville issuing bonds totaling $3.2 million and receiving just under another half million from the Lousiana Public Facilities Authority in the form of a loan.

The project includes drilling two new water wells, along with the installation of a new 200,000-gallon ground storage tank. In the process, the town also plans to install new digital water meters.
