BERNICE, La., (KNOE 8 News) - A Bernice man was booked into the Union Parish Detention Center this morning on seven charges after reportedly entering a residence without permission.

Willie Owens, 46, was booked for home invasion, false imprisonment, domestic abuse, simple battery, theft, resisting an officer and public intimidation. His bond had not been set late Friday afternoon.

Sheriff Bob Buckley said his deputies received a complaint about someone being in a residence on Rogers Street in Bernice late Thursday. When deputies and a Bernice officer arrived, there was no answer at the door. However, Owens was spotted by a deputy climbing out a back window. The deputy chased the suspect down.

The officers were told by three victims inside the residence that Owens kept them from answering the door when the officers arrived on the scene and knocked. The owner said he saw Owens standing in the hallway after hearing something in the house.

One victim told deputies that Owens had been to the house earlier Thursday night and had taken some money from the purse of another victim. When the victim confronted him, she was pushed. She was pushed a second time when she tried to answer the door when officers arrived.

Owens reportedly told deputies that Buckley was a friend and he would not be happy with them arresting him, thus the charge of public intimidation.
