LEESVILLE, La., (KNOE 8 News) - State Troopers have released their report on the collision of two 18-wheelers early yesterday at the intersection of La. highway 8 and La. highway 28 near Leesville.
According to the police report, 54-year-old Harold C. Durand of Pollock was driving a 2000 International west on La. 8, ran a stop sign and entered La. 28, where his vehicle collided with a truck being driven by 29-year-old Joseph J. Winford of DeRidder.
One of the trucks was carrying molten sulfur, and the other was a log truck. Troopers said the molten sulfur didn't spill onto the roadway.
Durand was taken to Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, where he was pronounced dead. Winford was pronounced dead at the scene.
