FARMERVILLE, La., (KNOE 8 News) - Farmerville city councilman Gerome Nation has been released on $10,000 bond on a charge of aggravated assault with a weapon.

The 49-year-old city councilman was arrested after an argument with his wife resulted in his arrest and the aggravated assault (domestic) charges.

According to the Union Parish Sheriff's Office they received a call from the wife around 4:50 a.m. Jan. 26 stating that her husband was following her down a road in the Spearsville area and was trying to kill her.

Deputies stated that the victim came to the sheriff's office and told them that Nation blocked her car on Clellan Bryan Road and there was a confrontation. She said he discharged a firearm three to four times.

When Nation was arrested, he reportedly told deputies he stopped his wife on the road, had words with her and discharged his weapon only two times.
