FARMERVILLE, La., (KNOE 8 News) - Tips called in to the Union Parish Crime Stoppers have resulted in the arrests of two men who were booked on nine counts of burglary.

Sheriff Bob Buckley identified the two as Jessie Lee Jenkins Jr., 20, of Choudrant, and William Roy Reynolds, 44, of Farmerville.

Jessie Lee Jenkins Jr. is accused of breaking into six vehicles during Sunday worship services at two Downsville area churches on Jan. 22, according to the arrest report. The report stated that Jenkins surrendered to Lincoln and Union sheriff's deputies and admitted to the break-ins saying he was only after cash. Purses, cell phones and jewelry were reported missing by the victims. Buckley said several purses were found in a creek between Downsville and Choudrant. Jenkins is being held in the Union Parish Detention Center on six counts of simple burglary. His total bond is $25,000.

Reynolds is being held on $16,000 bond for two counts of simple burglary, but is also being held for violating parole. "He has a long history of burglaries dating back to 1987," Buckley said. He could be facing up to 16 years in prison for a previous conviction because he violated his parole, the sheriff said. Reynolds is accused of breaking into the Antioch Grocery and the 50's Diner during the night of Jan. 21. The two businesses are located across Louisiana 2 from each other in the Antioch community. Cigarettes were taken from both businesses along with the diner's cash register, which was recovered.
