West Monroe man convicted of sexual battery

WEST MONROE, La., (KNOE 8 News) - A Ouachita Parish criminal jury has convicted Terral Dean Johnson, 49, of West Monroe of one count of Sexual Battery and one count of Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile. 

The unanimous verdict was reached after three hours of deliberation.  The trial started Monday with jury selection and testimony was heard yesterday with closing arguments on Thursday.

The offense occurred last July 18 at a residence in West Monroe.

West Monroe police investigated the incident and made the arrest later that day.  Nick Anderson and Doug Walker prosecuted the case for the State while Derrick Williams represented the defendant.

Sentencing is set for April 19.  The defendant faces up to 10 years in jail on Sexual Battery and up to 7 years on the Indecent Behavior charge.  Judge Robert Johnson is the presiding judge.
